More and more people are attracted by the nature and game reserves of South Africa. The most popular one is, of course, the Kruger National Park. Next to the Kruger Park you will find 21 national and more than 200 provincial parks. Most of the "public" and "private" nature conservation areas are developed for the tourist and offer accommodation and recreational facilities. Herewith a short overview:
The first part of the accommodation listed below refers to the Kruger National Park with its 20 rest camps as well as the other 13 parks of the S.A. National Parks that also offer accommodation facilities. It is generally of a rustic nature in chalets with a thatched roof called Rondavels. They are simply furnished with a fridge and barbecue. Shops and cooking facilities are available for the self catering holiday maker. Most of the bigger camps offer restaurants as well as camp sites. The bushveld camps have very simple accommodation and are for the self catering client only.

KWAZULU-NATAL NATURE CONSERVATION SERVICES
Accommodation in these parks is very similar to the National Parks Board. However, some of them cater for the more luxury-loving clientele. These camps all have restaurants. The more rustic camps are ideal for self-caterers who must bring their own food as no shops or restaurants are available. Central kitchens offer morning tea or simple lunches and dinners like steak and chips.
