It is often said that South Africans are sports fanatics, but then who would not be in a country where the weather, much of the time anyway, tempts one to be outdoors? All the major international sports are played in South Africa, and even a few local varieties. The beloved national soccer team, Bafana Bafana (The Boys), continues to get international accolades, as do the national rugby and cricket squads. South Africa's golfers are renowned, as are her tennis players, swimmers, athletes and boxers.
